Greetings to one and all
For those of you who haven't yet looked at the Blackmoor 4.0 events that will debut at GenCon Indianapolis, here are some quick details as well as mod numbers and blurbs.
Tables can go to 7 players.
Mods cost $6 each and will last 4 hours.
The Crowne Plaza will once again be Blackmoor's home, Grand Central Ballrooms A & B specifically.
There will be a total of ten slots, three a day Thursday-Saturday (8am-12pm, 2pm-6pm, 8pm-12am) and one slot on Sunday (8am-12pm).
There will be a total of 11 mods debuting. After completing some highly complicated algebraic computations through a Cal Sci supercomputer, I've determined that it's nearly impossible to play every debuting mod...unless you find a Wednesday night slot or a Sunday afternoon slot or you've already played two of the mods when they were previewed last summer.
Kudos to Rob, Jae, Lisa and everyone else involved with what looks to be a fantastic start to the Blackmoor 4.0 campaign.
Here are the mod numbers, titles and blurbs:
DAB4-001: In Brightest Day, In Blackest Night
In 1299, a new age is dawning, diplomacy happens and you are part of it. Or at least delivering it for those in leadership positions of the great city states that are part of it. But nothing is ever as simple as it seems with danger and treachery lurking everywhere, even In Brightest Day, In Blackest Night... Part of the "What Price of Freedom" story arc. Levels/Tier: 1-10/Heroic
DAB4-002: No Evil Shall Escape My Sight
In 1299, a new age is dawning and the Peshwah Nation is in need of aid. Unsure of who to blame for their horses disappearing from the Plains of Hak, they are seeking the help of outsiders. Can you discover the thieves, return the horses of the Peshwah and identify the culprits? Part of the "Hooves of a Different Kind" story arc. Levels/Tier: 1-10/Heroic
DAB4-003: Let Those Who Worship Evil's Might
In 1299, a new age is dawning and something is amiss in Dragonia. The citizens of the city are on edge, the Dragonborn faithful are anxious and the Dragons in the area are threatening to begin attacking the city once more. What has everyone on edge and can you remedy the situation before all dragons' breath is unleashed? Part of the "Revelations of Ascendancy" story arc. Levels/Tier: 1-10/Heroic
DAB4-004: Beware His Power, Insellegath's Right
In 1299, a new age is dawning and the Merchants of Maus are falling over dead. Having hired you on to guard the house of one of them, when the merchant ends up dead, they hold you accountable for finding his killer or taking the blame for yourself. Can you serve up Justice to the guilty or will you be served up instead? Part 1 of 3 of the "To Catch a Rat" story arc. Levels/Tier: 1-10/Heroic
DAB4-005: Something Wicked This Way Comes!
With the pious disappearing, rumors of a prophecy and rising tensions between Churches, Vestfold has become a very dangerous place to worship. Is this prophecy real? Is it what is causing tensions among the faiths? Will your faith help you to settle tensions or add to them? Part of the "Faith and Consequences" story arc. Levels/Tier: 1-10/Heroic
DAB4-006: Lands of the Setting Sun
A strange merchant claims to be from the other side of the Goblin Mountains. He has strange and unusual items for sale and a tale of Goblins blocking the pass back to his homeland and he wishes to hire you to clear them out so he can return home. Is his story true or is he insane? Can you truly resist finding out and perhaps be the first to explore new lands? Part of the "Vagabonds Vagaries" story arc. Levels/Tier: 1-10/Heroic
DAB4-007: League of Extraordinary Nations
Once a year, the city-states and races meet in a different city to hammer out issues of politics. This year, the meeting is being held in Ringlo Hall and tensions have never been higher. Rumors persist that something bad will happen. Being part of the security for the event, it's your job to prevent Bad Things. Can you stop what, if any, nefarious plans are being hatched? Part of the "Politics of Reality" story arc. Levels/Tier: 1-10/Heroic
DAB4-008: My Kingdom for a Horse!
A Peshwah trader is wheeling and dealing to trade a prized mated pair of Heavy Steppes Chargers to the highest bidder. The Peshwah have never allowed this before, so why now? The bidding is getting fierce and deadly. Will you discover the reason for the sale, place your bid and survive the other bidders? Part of the "Hooves of Different Kind" story arc. Levels/Tier: 1-10/Heroic
DAB4-009: The Young and the Draconic
Dragonian citizens, a Dragon God, Cloud Top, Failed Experiments and The Church of the Three have something in common, something that might lead to a war of faiths if it were to fall into the wrong hands. Can you discover what this is and deliver whatever it is to the right hands? Part of the "Revelations of Ascendancy" story arc. Levels/Tier: 1-10/Heroic
DAB4-010: Behold! A Fully Functional Battle Wagon!
The Dwarves of the Stormkiller Mountains have a new toy they want to test out. The problem lay with their brethren in the Iron Hills who want you to destroy it. Some days, it doesn't pay to get out of bed. Others, depending on your choice, pay very well indeed. So whose money will you accept? Part of the "What Price of Freedom" story arc. Levels/Tier: 1-10/Heroic
DAB4-011: Get the Flock Out of Here!
The Duchy of Ten was liberated many years ago, or was it? Something is stirring among the various faiths in Starmorgan and the rumor is that the Nobility is getting ready to crackdown on all faiths. The consequences of doing so, however, has them at a deadlock on what to do. Why are there such tensions between the Nobility and the Churches all of the sudden? Part of the "Faith and Consequences" story arc. Levels/Tier: 1-10/Heroic
Enjoy!!

Makes me happy, I should be there. Anywho on a different topic. Is it possible to either get a copy of all the mods or just get the passwords for the old campaign. I am trying to run a group of people though the mods so they get the story of blackmoor before the 4e campaign starts.

I would be interested in that too.

Wait, you mean Blackmoor 4E takes place over 200 years AFTER the events of the original Blackmoor? |

Oooh, shiny! I noticed that Blackmoor 4E will support several eras.
BTW, does anyone know what the status is with ZGG and CMP? The situation over at the CMP website has been making me a little worried. Hopefully these plans for GenCon mean that the wheels are still in motion with the actual products even if the virtual plantforms are somewhat in Limbo.
Hope they don't forget that marketing is vital. At least let us fans know so we can spread the words

Sort of.
The Book just released (the 'Black Album' as we like to call it ) is a conversion to 4e with updates of flavor text to match the mechanics... the new mechanics will be used in the MMRPG (Classes, feats, etc).
The actual MMRPG timeline starts in 1299.. so yes... 269 years in the future... And all future books released will deal with the year 1299 and forward.
As to the website issues... well, we'll leave it that sometimes software doesn't work as advertised, and even when it does work as advertised, in a test enviornment works fine, but blows up in a live enviornment. |

I take the book's new name as a well-deserved nods to our "Grim Winter" campaign here!
("Age of the Wolf" is a term I used as well, for the prophecied time when the veil between the planes of existence fades. - Which has begun in GW and will probably get stronger in the upcoming sequel. Which will make the whole story demonically more interesting... Muahahahaha...)
What I really want to say: Hooray! Can't wait to get the new book! |

Wow! RESPECT to you brother Rafe!
I wonder if it will borrow more than just the name. I love the name by the way.
Mynex: Just let us know when the forum is ready. Actually we already have this forum so if we can get people to gather in one place that should be enough...

I doubt they really took it from me, and if so, wooohooo, icanhazcredit?
But the physiognomy of the BM world is really designed in a way that a Viking-style Ragnarok event isn't a far call. So, I pretty much think they came up with this on their very own. However, of course the gaming group would be totally thrilled about a small nod to the Company of the Maiden.
Can't wait to see what they are bringing on! |

The class specific stuff - minus the Inventor atm - are released... In the Blackmoor First Campaign (Black Album) and can be gotten via PDF from our store or at RPGNow if you can't find the hard copy locally.
The Inventor class, at least the 1st 4 levels of it, will be included in the CCR/Campaign booklet which is being worked on right now - compiled, edited, stronger, faster, able to leap tall gamers in a single bound! (i.e. within the next week it'll be out - the target is this coming monday evening all going well and according to plan)
The Age of the Wolf book (well pdf) with the 269 years leap forward of the timeline will be available at GenCon - That will have the full inventor class and the campaign world flavor changes.
The Episodes themselves will also give you major insight into how things have changed in the world as well, since the flavor in th episodes is taken 90-99% from the AotW book.
Does that satisfy? |
